Connecting rod mechanism is an essential thought in the design of internal combustion engine. It engages the reciprocating piston to rotating crankshaft transmitting the thrust of the piston to the crankshaft and is subjected to complex state of stress. The stress is significantly produced on the joint of connecting rod shell and the base end or the top end. Along these lines, the durability of this part is of main concern. The aim of this paper is to decrease the weight and manufacturing cost of the connecting rod. To accomplish this objectives finite element analysis is done by utilizing the HyperMesh software. Literature survey recommends static compressive load share regularly utilized for design and enhancement of connecting rods. Finite element analysis and investigation were performed utilizing Hypermesh software. A comparative study is performed between C70 and Al7075 with a thought for improvement in weight and cost of manufacturing. For this, results of structural and modal analysis is compared. Diminishment in weight by the change in material is a significant factor in manufacturing cost reduction.
