Abstract: In recent Years, agriculture has become increasingly Data-Driven and Data –Enabled due to the use of different technologies such as greenhouse and aquaculture technologies. With the development of agriculture, new technology is required, and the focus is facing towards the smartest technological investment. The increasing demand for the quality and the quantity in the food sector raised the need to intensify and industrialize the agriculture sector. The current work provides empirical measurement results from an Internet of Things (IoT) platform based on remote telemetry applications for agriculture. Our aims to demonstrate how the processing of Big Data and the concept of Decentralized cloud operation can answer the demands of IoT applications in agriculture and how smart farming will help farmers operate more efficiently and more secured. Soil Testing is essential for modern agriculture: to optimize the production, protect the environment from fertilizers overuse, save money and energy during the production. The purpose of this work was to develop an autonomous mobile platform. Soil samples are analyses to determine the composition, characteristics or nutrient levels of soil. The System has a duplex communication link based on a cellular Internet interface that allows for data inspection and irrigation scheduling to be programmed through an android application. Because of its energy and autonomy and low cost, the system has the potential to be useful in water limited geographically isolated area. Despite the perception people may have regarding the agricultural process, the reality is that today’s agriculture industry is data-cantered, precise, and smarter than ever. The rapid emergence of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) based technologies redesigned almost every industry including “Smart Agriculture” which moved the industry from statistical to quantitative approaches. Such revolutionary changes are shaking the existing agriculture methods and creating new opportunities along a range of challenges. This article highlights the potential of wireless sensors and IoT in agriculture, as well as the challenges. This article highlights the potential of wireless sensors and IoT in agriculture, as well as the challenges expected to be faced when integrating this technology with the traditional farming practices.
