Soil compaction is one of the important geotechnical engineering applications in the infrastructure development of the nation. A large amount of soil is used in the construction of earth dams, airports, highways, earthen bunds, slope stability, and railways. Thus the knowledge of compaction behavior and its important characteristics of soils at different compaction energies assumes great importance from the practical significance of view. In the present study an attempt has been made to correlate Energy Imparted to Energy Proctor (EI/EP) with Theoretical Degree of Compaction (TDC), Compaction Characteristics (CC) with Compressive Strength (qu or UCC), logarithm of Compaction Energy (log E), Modified Liquid Limit (MLL), Modified Plastic Limit (MPL), correlate Maximum Dry Density (ϒdmax or MDD) with Optimum Moisture Content (Wopt or OMC) at respective compaction (i.e. 2/3 of Standard Proctor (SP) (393.4 kJ/m3), SP (590.1 kJ/m3), 2.25 of SP (1321.7 kJ/m3) and 4.5 of SP (2673.3 kJ/m3)) energy levels of all soils used in the study and correlate Dry Density (DD) with Moisture Content (MC) at all compaction energy (E) levels. Also, correlation of compressive strength with MLL and MPL at all respective compaction energy levels has been attempted. Similar functional relationships are correlated in the case of Dry and Wet of Optimum values.
