This work focuses on the fatigue performance of stainless-steel bridges and the effect of different edge profiles on the exhaustion lifespan of welded joints. Fillet-welded joints are of particular interest as they are a common site for fatigue damage in load-carrying components. The study analyses the influence of different edge profiles, including concave shape profiles with different arc radii and chamfering with different radii, as well as the position of the edge profile in relation to the sample profile. The analysis was conducted through numerical simulations, and the results indicate that the perpendicular side fillet profile with a 140 mm radius showed the maximum life of the joint compared to other joints with different profiles. This finding suggests that the choice of edge profile can have a significant impact on the fatigue performance of welded joints in stainless-steel bridges.
