| Abstract: | Secretory carcinoma is a rare tumor of salivary gland, which is not life threatening ; however differential diagnosis is difficult because of a lack of characteristic symptoms or finding upon examination. Salivary glands tumor are twelve times more frequent in parotid than in submandibular gland. We report a case of secretory carcinoma. The patient was a 21 year old female,who visited our ENT department with a mass in left parotid. On ultasonography it was a benign cystic lesion. The preoperative fine needle aspiration cytology showed no malignancy. When the patient underwent left total conservative parotidectomy with supraomohyoid neck dissection with preservation of facial nerve. Microscopically, the tumor had a typical feature of vacuolated and foamy cytoplasm. The tumor cells were positive for S-100 and cytokeratin. The patient was alive with no tumor recurrence or metastasis at follow up. |
