Bamboos are versatile, arborescent, perennial and non-wood forest trees with tremendous eco-sociological and commercial importance. Micropropagation is an alternative technique to propagate at large scale that uses nodal segment, apical bud, axillary bud, seed, flower, leaf as explant for clonal propagation and has been the subject of work by several researchers. Even through many research has been already done on bamboo species, there is still a need for more as there are several problems such as browning, contamination, necrosis, phenolic leaching and other problems faced during in vitro establishment. Many factors are affected to the successful micropropagation such as type of explant, season, size and position of explant, concentration and combination of growth hormones, culture medium, environmental condition, pH and temperature. This review briefly provides the most recent knowledge on tissue culture-mediated biotechnological interventions done in bamboo
