Abstract: Alopecia areata is an acquired skin complaint that can affect all hair- bearing skin and is characterized by localized areas of non-scarring hair loss, Alopecia areata, as a rule, is infrequently associated with any other external or internal medical problems. Alopecia is now a social problem in India & also in abroad & exact cause isn't known. Some advanced exploration is in process now this is a social responsibility of a people to produce mindfulness about the alopecia complaint. National alopecia areata foundation plays an important part for the social mindfulness. Hair plays a vital part in the personality of mortal and for their care we use lots of ornamental products. The fading (saturation problem), dandruff, alopecia (loss of hair) is the major problem associated with hairs. It's said that face is the glass of our personality and it should be maintained from the haircut we keep. In moment’s developing world there are lots changes in the eating habits and the life. Due to which its ill goods are seen on the body and out of which hair is affected the most. And hair fall has erupted as a major problem. In our ancient Ayurveda Granthas it's said that hair and nail are the malas of the asthi dhatu ie they develop from the Asthi. Kesh shaat( hair fall) is considered a sign of Asthi dhatu kshaya in Vagbhat sutra sthaan 11/19. Ayurved veritably well defines the hair loss problem as Khalitya and mentions different treatments for the problem. Present paper gives an idea on colorful causes and operation of hair fall Alopecia areata is an autoimmune complaint that results inn on-scarring hair loss, and it's clinically characterized by small patches of baldness on the crown and/ or around the body. It can latterly progress to total loss of crown hair (Alopecia Totalis) and/ or total loss of all body hair (Alopecia universals). The rapid-fire rate of hair loss and disfiguration caused by the condition causes anxiety on cases and increases the pitfalls of developing cerebral and psychiatric complications. Hair loss in alopecia areata is caused by lymphocytic infiltrations around the hair follicles and IFN-y. IgG antibodies against the hair follicle cells are also set up in alopecia areata victims. In addition, the complaint coexists with other autoimmune diseases and can come secondary to infections or inflammation. Still, despite the growing knowledge about alopecia areata, the aetiology and pathophysiology of complaint aren't well defined.
