Chromatography is defined as the technique which is used to for separation of constituents in a mixture .The world chromatography is derived from the Greek word namely Chroma (colour) and graphene ( to write ) . Among all chromatographic techniques Now a days High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is widely used for Separation and purification in various areas such as pharmaceutical, environmental, biotechnology, and food industries, etc.
There are different types of chromatographic techniques which are paper chromatography, thin layer chromatography , gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Among all chromatographic techniques the HPLC is the most versatile , dependable, safest and fast chromatographic techniques for quality control as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of drug compounds.
The HPLC technique mainly involves the 2 phases one is stationary phase and another is mobile phase . It is accomplished by injection of small amount of liquid sample into mobile phase that is moving stream which passes through the column packed with particles of stationary phase. The constituent gets separated based on difference between partition coefficient of two phases
