Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected billions of people globally, is a result of a coronavirus strain known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This strain has caused unprecedented disruptions to healthcare services and significant morbidity and mortality in the global population. Clinicians face significant challenges when managing COVID-19 complications, such as hypercoagulability, due to insufficient data and controversy surrounding the benefits of anticoagulant therapy. Additionally, patients with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases (CVD) may be particularly vulnerable to the virus, which can cause myocardial injury, arrhythmia, acute coronary syndrome, and venous thromboembolism. Although still up for debate, patients with COVID-19 and concomitant cardiovascular disorders are also becoming a significant problem. In order to evaluate the clinical results of previous anticoagulant medication in individuals with COVID-19 who already had cardiovascular disease, we thus made an effort to do a systematic review. The purpose of this systematic review is to assess the body of research on anticoagulant medication in COVID-19 individuals who already have cardiovascular disease. This study seeks to provide a thorough overview of the advantages and possible drawbacks of anticoagulant treatment by examining the available data. This information may help with managing COVID-19 in patients with underlying CVD and may even improve patient outcomes in clinical practice.
