| Abstract: | Rajasthan is worldwide known for its culture and heritage. Rajasthan with vast cultural and religious heritage and varied natural attractions has immense potential of growth in the tourism sector The historical forts, palaces, folk art and culture, heritage beauty, traditions, desert fairs and festivals always attracts domestic as well as foreign tourists. Rajasthan is " Sunhari Dharati" and people here believe in " Athithi Devo Bhava". They welcome guest by saying "Ram Ram Sa" and " Padharo Mhare Desh". Tourism has grown as large sector which is providing employment as well as empowerment. Cultural heritage provides vital link to the past at dynamically designed surroundings and remains as an indicator for future coming up with the development. There is a key relationship between heritage and development that reflects the association between conservation of heritage, resurgence and economic growth and development. Tourism provides employment opportunities to local population by acting as catalyst in the growth of basic infrastructure like road transport, Health care and Education. This paper highlights the role of heritage tourism in economic growth of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner districts i.e., also known as Desert Circuit. |
