Automatic mammogram-based breast cancer detection plays a critical role in accurate cancer diagnosis and treatment planning, potentially saving lives. Mammography is a simple yet effective diagnostic for detecting breast cancer. There have been very few comprehensive surveys presented to briefly examine strategies for identifying breast cancer with mammography. The goal of this article is to provide an overview of current advances in machine learning (ML) based breast cancer detection systems.
