The fundamental components of human nature are sentiments and emotions. A remarkable feature of aesthetic theory is the basic importance attached to the analysis of the interaction between performers and spectators. The sentiments evoke aesthetic preferences that can be formed with differing levels of inventiveness and experience. When the sentiments are absorbed through any art form, they create an experience and atmosphere of delight, bliss or ecstasy.
It is in Bharata Muni’s Natyashastra that the concept of Rasa as the essence of artistic creation and its experience has been expounded. Bharata Muni has categorically asserted the pervasiveness of drama in the concept of Rasa. Bharata Muni states the realization of Rasa-s and describes the Eight Rasa-s in his Natyashastra - Shringara (Erotic), Hasya (Comic), Karuna (Pathetic), Raudra (Furious), Veera (Heroic), Bhayanaka (Terrible), Bibhatsa (Odious), and Adbhuta (Marvellous). A brief study, in this paper, is undertaken on the mentioned topic.
