Abstract: Aim: To study the utilization of DAPT and optimal dosage and duration of DAPT in cardiovascular disease patients. Materials and methods: In this study 100 patients were recruited who were diagnosed with cardiovascular disease such as ACS, CAD, PAD, IHD, UA, stroke and revived their prescription to evaluate adherence to guidelines on prescription pattern of DAPT with the current AHA/ACC, ESC and AHA/ASA guidelines. Another aspect of the study was to look for any bleeding events experienced by the patient during the therapy by cross verifying their medical charts, history and also laboratory parameters like hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet levels, PTT and INR levels. Results: Among the 100 patients who were part of the study, ticagrelor and aspirin made up the bulk of the DAPT prescriptions (55%) compared to clopidogrel and aspirin (45%). According to the study, 2% of patients had a DAPT prescription for less than a month, 47% for 1-3 months, 20% for 4-6 months, 15% for 7-12 months, and 10% for more than 12 months. In all, 55% of patients received prescriptions in accordance with ESC recommendations, 73% with AHA/ACC guidelines, and 75% with ASA/AHA guidelines for stroke. Ten patients in all reported bleeding incidents while receiving treatment. Assessment of alterations in laboratory parameters, including hemoglobin, platelet count, serum creatinine, aPTT, and PTT, in patients experiencing bleeding episodes. Conclusion: The study concludes that the prescription pattern is followed according to the standard guidelines for optimal dosing and duration in cardiovascular disease. DAPT is associated with the occurrence of bleeding events. Hence adhering with the guidelines we can achieve maximum clinical effect with minimum duration.
