The Bodo community of Assam is one of the most significant tribes in Northeast India, known for its rich cultural traditions and unique weaving practices. Weaving holds a central role in Bodo society, particularly among women, who are expected to master the art as part of their social identity. This study focuses on Bodo costumes, weaving methods, designs, and associated folk beliefs, with special reference to Kokrajhar district in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Data was collected through field visits, interviews, observations, and secondary sources. Findings reveal that Bodo costumes are classified into three types and decorated with intricate handmade designs such as Hajw Agor, Phareo Megon, and Daorai Mokhreb, alongside emerging machine-made patterns. Weaving techniques are carried out using traditional looms, modern jacquard looms, and power looms. The study concludes that weaving is not only a creative expression but also a cultural heritage passed down generations, preserving the identity of the Bodo people.
