Effective water management is an essential issue in modern agriculture, especially in water-limited areas. This paper introduces the design and deployment of an automated irrigation system using wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to monitor soil moisture, temperature, and environmental conditions in real time. The system proposed in this paper uses low-power wireless sensors placed strategically in the field to gather data, which is then relayed to a central control unit. Depending on predetermined thresholds and sensor values, the system automatically controls irrigation valves to deliver precise volumes of water only when required, thus greatly minimizing water wastage and labor needs. The result shows improved water efficiency, healthier crops, and scalability to largescale agricultural application. This paper introduces the possibility of IoT-based smart farming technology to enable sustainable agriculture through smart resource management.
