| Abstract: | Abstract Background: Nursing officers play a pivotal role in healthcare delivery but are frequently exposed to demanding work environments characterized by heavy workloads, rotating shifts, staffing shortages, and emotionally challenging situations. These occupational demands contribute to increased levels of perceived stress, anxiety, and workplace stressors, which may adversely affect their mental well-being, job satisfaction, and quality of patient care. Baseline assessment of these psychological parameters is essential for identifying the extent of the problem and planning evidence-based interventions to enhance nurses' mental health. Objective: To assess the baseline levels of perceived stress, anxiety, and occupational stressors among nursing officers working in selected hospitals in Bengaluru and to examine their association with selected socio-demographic variables. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was proposed among nursing officers employed in selected hospitals in Bengaluru. Participants were selected using a non-probability sampling technique based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using a structured socio-demographic questionnaire, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale, and the Nursing Stress Scale (NSS). Descriptive statistics were used to summarize participant characteristics and psychological variables, while inferential statistics were planned to determine associations between perceived stress, anxiety, occupational stressors, and selected socio-demographic variables. Results: The study is expected to provide baseline information on the prevalence and severity of perceived stress, anxiety, and occupational stressors among nursing officers. The findings are anticipated to identify key occupational factors associated with psychological distress and provide evidence to support the development of targeted interventions, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programmes. Conclusion: Assessing the baseline psychological health of nursing officers is crucial for promoting workforce well-being and ensuring quality patient care. The findings of this study will provide valuable evidence for healthcare administrators, nurse leaders, and policymakers to develop effective mental health promotion strategies and supportive workplace interventions for nursing professionals.
