This article presents a brief review on the multiphase flow of non-Newtonian fluids with the primary focus on the hydrodynamic parameters of gas-liquid and liquid-liquid two phase flow in closed conduits. The review includes experimental studies, analytical models and numerical simulations. The nature of the hydrodynamics of gas/non-Newtonian liquid flow is complex as compared to gas/Newtonian liquid because of high apparent viscosity and the associated elastic behavior. Several studies are available in literature for the prediction of flow pattern, holdup and pressure drop for two-phase flow regimes for gas-Newtonian two phase flow. Hence research work on the hydrodynamics of Newtonian /non-Newtonian fluid mixtures require a concentrated effort. Most of the research gaps are found regarding the study of Taylor bubbles, liquid/liquid two phase flow in channels, gas/liquid and liquid/liquid flow of non-Newtonian fluids in microchannels/millichannels.
