Effective heat dissipation is crucial for the optimal performance and reliability of electronic devices, particularly in the context of modern high-power applications. This review provides a comprehensive examination of the use of turbulators as a promising technique to enhance the thermal performance of heat sinks. Turbulators, which include various protrusions, ribs, and swirl-inducing features integrated into the heat sink surfaces, have shown significant potential in augmenting convective heat transfer. The review begins with an overview of the fundamental principles of heat sink operation and the importance of efficient heat dissipation in electronic devices. It then delves into the theoretical foundations of turbulator-induced turbulence and its impact on convective heat transfer enhancement. The analysis includes a discussion of the key parameters influencing turbulator performance, such as geometry, spacing, and orientation.
