ABSTRACT: One of the major problems facing by most of the people in our day to day life is the waiting in a queue. Nowadays people waiting in a queue are common in all places such as petrol stations, retail outlets, hospitals, manufacturing companies, motorcycle parking, hotels, etc. The performance of the queuing system can be measured in terms of waiting queue line, mean service rate and utilization factor. This paper reveals the efficient queue model and queue management technique in a supermarket as a case study. The aim of this study is to implement a new queue model instead of the present queue model to reduce the waiting time of the people in the queue in a reputed super market (i ,e. a retail outlet) present in Arakkonam town of Ranipet district in Tamil Nadu.
