Abstract: Silver nanoparticles are synthesized using a simple, low-cost, eco-friendly green technology from ethanolic leaf extract of freeze dried Paederia foetida in a sealed Teflon container of 18 mL capacity. Then, the process operating parameters are investigated using Response Surface Methodology wherein silver nitrate concentration, temperature and rotational speed are considered as factors. Each of the three parameters are studied at three levels viz. high, medium and low – 1:9, 1:7 and 1:5 for silver nitrate concentration; 50°C, 40°C, 30°C for temperature and 160 rpm, 140 rpm and 120 rpm for rotational speed maintaining 10 mL total volume and 120 h of incubation period. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak centered at a wavelength of 430 nm for silver nanoparticles are considered as a response. The optimum process conditions for silver nanoparticles synthesis are determined (1:5, 50°C, 140 rpm) that were obtained at 72h of incubation period for 50:50 (ethanolic: double distilled water) ethanolic freeze dried leaf extract. The synthesized silver nanoparticles are very stable with no precipitation occurred upto 8 months of storage. The model predicted the optimum AgNPs yield value of 0.973 at optimal value of process parameters (1:5 AgNO3 conc., 50°C and 141.04 rpm). The experiment conducted with the same optimum conditions that gave 0.933 AgNPs yield value with 4.3 % error.
