Communal violence is one of a form of violence that is executed in many various ideologies across social, ethnic and communal lines. Since India has a long history if communal abnormalities between various communities, before Independence too India faced communal disturbances, which reminds about riots which took place in August 1893 in Mumbai. ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ is known as ‘Father of Communal Riots in India’ because it was he who enshrined communal violence in India. Communalism is described as an ideology briefing the division and partition between states, community on the basis of difference in religious values, social harmonies, clashes in the society. Caste wars and communal riots are eventually a social conflicts that have deep rooted causes and devastating effects. Historical discrimination, socio-economic disparities and political manipulation contribute to the escalation of these conflicts. This results in loss of life, displacement and total breakdown of equality, liberty and fraternity.
