The present investigation aim at the development and evaluation of herbal anti-inflammatory gel using of ethanolic extract from alocassia macrorrhiza and carbapol 940 polymer. The herbal gel formulation were evaluated for its pH, appearance and homogenecity, viscosity, spradiability and anti-inflammatory activity by protein denaturation in comparison with standard diclofenac sodium gel. The result suggested the liganamides and monoindole alkaloids might be responsible for the anti-inflammatory activity of giant taro and might be potential anti-inflammatory candidates.
