The demand for advanced security systems in educational institutions has surged in recent years, driven by the need for comprehensive surveillance solutions that are cost-effective, scalable, and easy to manage. College campuses, due to their large size and varying security needs, often require a combination of manual monitoring and automated surveillance systems to ensure the safety of students, staff, and faculty. Traditional security methods, such as stationary cameras or manual patrols, are limited in terms of coverage, adaptability, and real-time response. This paper proposes a novel approach that combines mobile video surveillance with a wireless notice announcement system for colleges, aiming to provide enhanced security and seamless communication for campus administration. The system integrates a variety of open-source, low-cost technologies, including Arduino, ultrasonic sensors, HC-05 Bluetooth module, L293D motor driver, ESP camera module, and voice IC for effective operation.
The proposed system uses an autonomous vehicle equipped with multiple sensors and modules that move throughout the campus, capturing real-time video footage while delivering important campus notices or alerts. The vehicle is
Controlled by an Arduino microcontroller, which processes inputs from the ultrasonic sensor to detect and avoid obstacles. The HC-05 Bluetooth module allows remote control of the vehicle through a smartphone or a computer, providing the user with the ability to navigate the vehicle and trigger specific actions, such as announcing important messages. Additionally, the ESP camera captures and streams video footage over a Wi-Fi network, enabling real-time surveillance that can be accessed by campus security or administrative personnel from their devices. The system also incorporates a voice IC connected to a speaker, allowing for audio announcements, further enhancing the communication aspect of the solution. This integration of video surveillance with audio announcements makes the system versatile in addressing both security and communication needs on campus.
The ESP camera module offers high-quality video streaming capabilities, ensuring that security personnel can remotely monitor the campus in real time. The LCD display provides status updates, sensor readings, and alerts, making it easy for users to monitor the vehicle’s operational status at a glance.
