Abstract: Natural aggregate is utilized to produce concrete, a better construction material. As more buildings are constructed, utilization of natural resources is constantly reducing in developing countries such as India. There is an enormous demand for alternative resources to produce concrete these days. Restricting utilization of local and natural waste disposal techniques is becoming increasingly important, as are environmental factors. A vital component of concrete mix for most construction works, including constructing houses and creating infrastructure, is coarse aggregate. We need to produce substitute building materials like recycled aggregate, recycled rubber tyres, ceramic waste, granite waste, coconut shell, palm kernel shell, e-plastic waste, palm kernel shell, waste glassware, etc. to minimize the use of conventional aggregate. In concrete, excess coconut shells can be used as coarse aggregate. Coconut shells are an agricultural and industrial waste product that is difficult to manage and dispose of. This has created serious environmental problems. Trash from the coconut industry can be replaced with natural coarse aggregate. The problem of insufficient easily available resources can be addressed by utilizing coconut shells as a substitute for coarse aggregate since they are both financially friendly and eco-friendly. Utilizing such material also addresses the issue of disposal. The main aim of this review study is to establish if coconut shells can be used to produce lightweight concrete instead of coarse material Coconut shells can be used as a partial replacement for coarse aggregates in concrete.
