Blood glucose monitoring is essential for detecting patterns in glucose fluctuations influenced by diet, exercise, medication, and conditions like diabetes mellitus. Capillary blood glucose (CBG) testing, often done at home using a lancet, glucometer, and test strips, offers a convenient alternative to clinical plasma glucose tests. Modern glucometers require minimal blood and can sync data to smartphone apps for trend tracking and care planning. Alternate site testing (e.g., forearm, heel) can reduce discomfort and is effective under specific conditions. Accurate monitoring supports timely intervention and better diabetes management.
