Abstract:
Experiment was carried out to study the effect of different substrate on growth potential of Pleurotus sapidus. Seven substrates, viz. Wheat, paddy straw, maize, jowar, soybean straw green gram and black gram straw were used for growth of mushroom. Among the seven substrates evaluated, highest yield was reported (820.66 gm/kg straw) with 82.06 % B.E. when mushroom grown on soybean straw , followed by yield on paddy straw (800.33 gm/kg straw) with 80.03 % B.E. The yield on wheat straw was 796.99 gm, on maize straw was 688.33 gm, on green gram straw was 740.33 gm, on black gram 758.66 gm were reported and the minimum yield was reported (658.66 gm/kg straw) on jowar straw with 65.86 % B.E.
