| Abstract: | The aim of this paper is to assess the cost difference of various branded and generic oral antidiabetic drugs available in the Indian market. There are innumerable brands of oral anti-diabetic drugs present in the market with a wide variation in the cost of various branded and generic anti-diabetics. The consideration of cost of treatment is one of the important aspects in health economics. Hence this study was done to assess the cost variation of various preparations of anti-diabetics (branded and generic) available in India. The maximum and minimum price of each oral antidiabetic drug in rupees (INR) was noted by using “Current Index of Medical Specialties” (CIMS) July October 2020, Drug Today July-October 2020 and www.1mg.com. The cost ratio and the percentage of cost variation for individual drugs was calculated and compared. |
