The antenna design for wideband applications represents a challenging activity for designers of various wireless communication technologies. The rapid growth of 5G mobile communications require wideband antennas suitable to cover the wide variety of services and to reduce complexity and cost. The design aims to improve the bandwidth of microstrip antenna, which is fed by aperture coupling method and to have improved radiation patterns. The design is tested with different substrates like Rogers RO4003, Rogers RT/duriod 5880, Teflon, Taconic. Antenna is offering dual resonance in all the cases. The simulation results of return loss, gain and radiation patterns are presented in this paper. By using parallel slots on the microstrip patch, radiation pattern in the broad side direction can be increased.
