High density concrete is most widely used where the high strength property and blocking the effect of radiation in the structures are required. High density concrete is achieved by utilizing high density aggregate such as Hematite (Fe2O3), Ilmenite (FeO TiO2), Magnetite (Fe3O4) and Steel Aggregate in concrete. In this research work, hematite is used as coarse aggregate as well as fine aggregate and mill scale is used as fine aggregate. Three different concrete mixes with same proportion of cement and water cement ratio were designed using normal fine aggregate and coarse aggregate, hematite and mill scale. In this paper studied the conventional M30 grade concrete is compared with high density M30 grade of concrete with different proportions of hematite sand & aggregate and mill scale were studied. The mechanical properties of mixes with hematite and mill scale and radiation test and thermal conductivity test on hematite concrete and hematite incorporated with mill scale were conducted.
