The present paper is an attempt to explore the difficulties that the speakers of one language encounter while learning another language as a second language. The main focus is on mother tongue interference. The learners whose mother tongue is Hindi come with a prior knowledge of the working mechanism of it, which they impose on the target language English. They apply the the L1 system of rules onto L2, though they are not aware of it. But the teachers can detect this through contrastive analysis and work accordingly. Today, the learners can overcome this problem rectifying their errors easily making use of the advanced technology available on the internet.
