The use of aluminium alloy for piston manufacturing has gained significant attention in recent years due to its numerous advantages over traditional materials, such as cast iron. This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the application of aluminium alloy in piston manufacturing, focusing on its mechanical properties, performance, and potential challenges. The primary advantage of aluminium alloy pistons lies in their lightweight nature, contributing to reduced reciprocating mass and improved engine efficiency. This attribute allows for higher engine speeds, reduced fuel consumption, and enhanced overall vehicle performance. Moreover, aluminium alloy pistons exhibit excellent thermal conductivity, aiding in efficient heat dissipation and minimizing the risk of thermal expansion-related issues.
