| Abstract: | The attitude of teachers at elementary level in school education towards science is of fundamental importance to research on science education. The study on elementary teachers’ attitudes towards science has received considerable research attention over the last decades. Attitude is a complex and multidimensional construct. Science is a body of useful and practical knowledge and a method of obtaining it. Tripura, a small state of north east region of India, has good literacy rate and its elementary school education background is also strong with diverse nature of programs. Agartala is the capital of Tripura where the study was conducted. The teachers’ attitude towards science is just a setting of mind and way of life according to certain principles. For effective teaching of science to take place a good method must be adopted by a teacher. The main goal of this paper is to study teachers' personal attitudes towards science and their attitudes towards teaching science at elementary level in school. Methodologies and assessment techniques followed by elementary science teachers are also investigated by the researchers. |
