Landforms that are regulated by the tectonomorphic parameters of both the surface and subsurface properties of a basin are the subject of morphometric analysis, which is a quantitative investigation of landforms. An important role in the economic landscape of Himachal Pradesh is played by the Beas river, which is a tributary of the Indus drainage system in Himachal Pradesh Himalaya. This river has been chosen for the current research because it is a source of irrigation that is both reliable and long-lasting. An examination of the linear, areal, and relief aspects of morphometric parameters was carried out in the quantitative analysis of the current research. The Advanced Land Observing Satellite Digital Elevation Model (ALOS DEM) with a resolution of 12.5 metres was used in ArcGIS software in order to ascertain and quantify the morphometric characteristics of the drainage basin. According to the findings of the research, the Beas drainage basin is mostly composed of metamorphic rock, primarily gneisses and quartzite, and it has a dermal drainage pattern. In terms of form, the basin is elongated (the Form Factor is equal to 27.27). The basin is sloping down from north east to south west direction sharing with Gentle slope (0°- 5°) to very steep slope (up to 79°). The stream order goes from first to seventh order, with first being the highest. An indication of the permeability of the surface strata is the fact that the drainage density in the region has been determined to be modest. Rb, which stands for the bifurcation ratio, is 1.70. As a result, the current research not only contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the morphological and geohydrological characteristics of drainage basins, but it also fosters a more sustainable utilisation of water resources and helps improve the overall understanding of these characteristics. Additionally, the findings may be used for the formulation of policies, the creation of plans, and the achievement of sustainable management of the area.
