Stunting is a child development disorder that is still a mystery in various parts of the world. The research aims to reveal multiple factors related to stunting and their effects on children's cognitive and language development. The method used is a qualitative study with a case study approach to unravel the complex mystery of stunting in a specific context. The complexity of the interaction of various factors, including insufficient nutrition, poor parenting, unhealthy environment, poor water and sanitation, and recurrent illnesses, makes the problem of stunting unable to be appropriately resolved. This mysterious condition makes stunting a multifactor phenomenon that is not widely understood in depth. Malnutrition of children under five can cause damage to the structure of the brain and nerve tissue. This decreases cognitive functions such as responding to stimuli, learning abilities, and creativity. In addition, children have language limitations, limited vocabulary, and difficulties in constructing sentences and understanding verbal messages. The prevention of adverse effects of stunting must be carried out from pregnancy to two years after birth or the first 1,000 days of life by ensuring that nutrition and health are met. Because a multifactor phenomenon causes stunting, a multisector approach that involves comprehensive improvements in sanitation, nutrition, education, public health, and social economy is needed. The study's conclusion found that stunting is a complex mystery where various factors are interrelated and seriously impact children's cognitive and language development. Handling stunting requires collaboration across sectors and joint efforts to give full attention to nutrition, the environment, health, and parenting styles that support optimal child development.
