Abstract
In today’s world short stories are widely accepted among the readers as they are read in one sitting. Besides entertaining they are the simplest way of communicating the way of life. In this people who were identify by their cultural basically. When we know the new culture, it will enrich our knowledge but adopting the same and living in alien land will affect our freedom of thought and life. Change whereabouts and language from one to other drag the people to a further complicated world. But the Diaspora is a melting pot of many cultures. The dispersed populace feels a sense of ethnic kinship. Since the beginning of time, people have started dislocating themselves in search of better opportunities. Others absorb ideals from their homeland and integrate on the outskirts of their community. Our minds become divided and must be reconnected. Many obstacles appeared in their path at first, but they eventually left an influence on the environment. When moving from one location to another, not only do dietary patterns, clothing, lifestyle, and linguistic changes occur, but a full behavioral transition occurs. This acculturation, this diversity, ushers in a new era of transformation. However, it causes estrangement, rootlessness, and loneliness. There is always a sense of 'Where should they genuinely belong?' Considering the mixing of two traditions, they remain apart. Their hybridity is becoming an element of who they are. People combine with the finest of both societies, resulting in lingual, social, emotional, and historical progress. The terms "ethnic" and "ethno" derive from the Greek word "ethnos," which refers to a group of individuals who share a common ancestor. Ethnic factors include similar historical experiences and recollections, cultural mythology, and a connection to a historical location or motherland. The present article seeks to discover how Diaspora is represented in literature through the impact of the Indo-American backdrop in the perspective of Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth. The main aim behind that is to address the question: when did immigrants deal with cultural separation and ethnic violence? It is hoped that this research would educate people about the creative barrier between American and Indian cultures, as well as the history of blending across time.
