This thesis conducts a simulation study to investigate the heat transfer characteristics of two environmentally friendly refrigerants, R-1234ze and R-1234yf, within plate heat exchangers (PHEs). The focus is on low-global warming potential, and computational fluid dynamics simulations are employed to analyze and compare the thermal performance of the two refrigerants under various conditions. Key parameters such as mass flow rates, temperature differentials, and plate geometries are examined to evaluate efficiency and overall performance. The results provide insights into optimizing system designs and operational parameters, contributing to the transition towards sustainable and eco-friendly refrigeration solutions amid climate change concerns.
