Abstract: Background: Chemotherapy induced neurocognitive impairment (CICI), also called as Chemobrain is a frequent accompaniment of cancer chemotherapy associated with different types of solid tumours. Though common, it is found to be the most frequently ignored adverse effects of chemotherapy. Aims: The study aimed to determine the severity of neurocognitive impairment, the various risk factors contributing to NCI, the most frequent domain affected in impaired population and the regimen known to cause NCI. Methods: In this study, a total of 100 cancer patients were enrolled, and the methodology was focused explaining the study to the interviewees, obtaining consent, evaluating them for NCI using Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scale, after which the data was compiled into an excel sheet and the results were interpreted using Chi-square social statistical software at p<0.05 Results: The study included 100 cancer patients, out of which 57% had mild NCI, 31% had moderate NCI, 1% had severe NCI and 11% of patients did not have NCI. The analysis NCI based on Chi-square interpretation in terms of age distribution and socioeconomic status were found to be statistically significant at p<0.05, whereas based on cycle of chemotherapy received was not found to be statistically significant at p-value<0.05. The MEMORY domain had only 36.8% with least responses with respect to other domains and language domain had 85.67% responses and 5-Fluorouracil containing regimens most commonly contributed to the development of NCI. Conclusion: From the study, it can be concluded that the number of cycles of chemotherapy received served as the major cause of developing NCI. The study identified that age, socioeconomic status acted as triggering factors to develop NCI. The study identified MEMORY domain as the most affected domain. Among the various regimens, the regimens containing 5-Fluorouracil contributed mainly to the development of NCI in comparison to other regimens.
