| Abstract: | Women empowerment is an important dimension of inclusive rural development. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), implemented in 2005, aims to enhance livelihood security by providing 100 days of guaranteed employment to rural households. One of the major objectives of the scheme is the promotion of women’s participation in wage employment. Rajasthan has emerged as one of the leading states in female participation under MGNREGA. This study analyzes the role of MGNREGA in promoting economic, social, and political empowerment of women in Rajasthan. Using secondary data from government reports and statistical databases, the study employs descriptive statistics, trend analysis, and regression techniques. The findings reveal that MGNREGA has significantly increased women’s participation in rural labour markets, improved household income, and enhanced women's decision-making power. However, structural issues such as wage delays, limited work availability, and gender norms still limit its full potential. |
