Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin is a writer and novelist in contemporary Arabic literature, with roots from Dar Fur in western Sudan. He was born in the city of Kassala in eastern Sudan in 1963 AD. He continued his university studies in Egypt, studying business administration at Assiut University. Since 2012, he has been living in exile in Austria. He won the Tayeb Salih Prize for Novel in its seventh session for his novel “The-Jungo, the Stakes of the Earth” in 2011.
The paper tries to highlight the issue of coexistence between two different cultures, which Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin addresses in his novel “Al Rajul Al kharab” through the paradoxical Sudanese-Egyptian character Hassan Darwish, who lives in Vienna with two contradictory faces: a face of tolerance and integration and a face of violence and hatred. The issue of coexistence and integration between Arab-Islamic civilization and Western civilization is a fundamental issue. The novel “The Ruin Man” depicts the problems and issues that Arab immigrants face in Western societies, that is, in a culture completely different from the culture of the Arabs.
