Abstract: Tridax procumbens, commonly known as coat buttons or tridax daisy, is a traditional medicinal plant widely distributed in tropical regions. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the antioxidant and antidiabetic properties of Tridax procumbens plant extracts. Various solvent extracts of different parts of the plant, including leaves, stems, and roots, have been investigated for their phytochemical composition and biological activities. Studies have demonstrated the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolics, and terpenoids, which contribute to the antioxidant and antidiabetic potential of Tridax procumbens. These compounds exhibit scavenging activity against reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby protecting cells from oxidative damage. Additionally, Tridax procumbens extracts have shown promising inhibitory effects on key enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism, such as α-amylase and α-glucosidase, which regulate postprandial glucose levels. Furthermore, in vivo studies have revealed the ability of Tridax procumbens extracts to reduce blood glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity in diabetic animal models. The synergistic effects of phytochemicals present in Tridax procumbens may offer a promising natural alternative for managing oxidative stress and diabetes mellitus. However, further research is warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and validate the therapeutic potential of Tridax procumbens in the prevention and treatment of oxidative stress-related disorders and diabetes.
