The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 led to widespread disruptions across various sectors, including education. This paper examines the impact of COVID-19 on adolescent girls' education in rural areas, with a focus on India. The closure of schools and the shift to online learning presented significant challenges for rural students, particularly girls, due to limited access to technology and educational resources. The paper discusses the socio-economic and cultural factors exacerbating gender disparities in education, such as early marriage and household responsibilities. Government initiatives aimed at promoting girls' education in rural areas are outlined, including the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao program. The paper concludes with recommendations to mitigate the pandemic's impact on girls' education, including waiving school fees, providing financial assistance, and ensuring access to digital learning resources.
