India and the Maldives enjoy close, friendly, and multifaceted relations and share ancient ethnic, linguistic, cultural, religious, and commercial ties. Following the Maldives' independence in 1965, India was among the first to recognise the country and to create diplomatic ties with the nation. In 1972, India established a mission at the CDA level, and in 1980, it became a resident High Commissioner. November 2004 saw the opening of the Maldives' first-ever High Commission in New Delhi, one of its four diplomatic outposts across the globe. In essence, the Maldives' prominence has significantly increased its geopolitical gravity. Even if this partnership has persisted into the twenty-first century, China's domination and India's bonhomie have caused a little downturn that is, at the very least, slightly harmful to India's security interests. This article aims to create a geopolitical continuum of the Maldives-India ties (trade, security, culture, etc.) and how they have changed in several years
