Abstract: Abstract- “Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding sex education”. Background: Adolescence is the phase of life between childhood and adulthood, from ages 10 to 19. Too many young people receive confusing and conflicting information about relationships and sex. Due to a limitation of informational sources, a lack of sex education leads to a lack of awareness about sexuality and sexual disease. As the sex education offering knowledge about sex and sexuality. It aims to develop awareness about sexual health. Objective: To assess the existing level of knowledge regarding sex education among adolescent girls, to assess the effectiveness of STP on knowledge regarding sex education among adolescent girls, to determine the association between pre-test knowledge score with selected demographic variables. Methodology: A quantitative research approach and quasi experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used. Non-purposive convenient sampling technique was used to select 80 girl students in Dabble Public School, Banthra, Lucknow. Data were analyzed by using descriptive & inferential statistics. Result: In pre-test majority 57.5% had inadequate knowledge, 35% had moderate knowledge and 7.5% had adequate knowledge regarding sex education. In post-test majority of the students 71.25% had adequate knowledge, 28.75% had moderate knowledge regarding sex education. Pre-intervention mean knowledge score of study populations was 15.212±4.256. This after intervention was found to be 23.575±2.760. A change of 8.363 in knowledge mean score was observed which was found to be statistically significant. The calculated “t” value 16.2460 is more than table value 1.98 is significant level at p<0.05 level. Conclusion: The study concluded that structured teaching programme regarding sex education was effective.
