objectives:
To assess the knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene and its complications among adolescent girls.
To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene and its complications among adolescent girls.
• To Associate the Knowledge with selected demographic variables.
Materials and methods:
A structured teaching program was used on 80 adolescent girls between 6th, 7th and 8th class were included in this study by using purposive sampling techniques, each student were given structured teaching program on menstrual hygiene and its complications. Structured questionnaire were developed for the data collection. Descriptive statics and inferential statistic were used to analyze the data.
Result: The result reveal that among 80 adolescent girls only 7.5% have good knowledge, 75% have average knowledge and 17.5% have poor knowledge in pre-test. The overall mean for the study was 9.031 and the standard deviation was 2.612 but in post-test, 63.75% have good knowledge, 36.25% have average knowledge and 0% have poor knowledge. The overall mean for the study was 12.937 and the standard deviation was 2.324.
Conclusion: The following conclusion were made on the basis of the finding of the study: the adolescent girls are having good knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene and its complications. There was significant association between association existing in adolescent girls at p value >0.05. After providing structured teaching program, 63.75% have good knowledge, 36.25% have average knowledge and 0% have poor knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene and its complications.
