Abstract: « La femme » est l’idée centrale de la littérature féministe. Elle, pour affirmer son identité dans l’univers des hommes, emploie la littérature comme un arme contre la patriarchie. De même, elle utilise l’écriture comme un réservoir pour verser ses émotions cathartiques contre le système hégémonique créé par les hommes. La littérature féministe essaie de créer son espace dans la littérature dominée par des hommes, où le traducteur intervient de plus en plus dans l’œuvre traduite, pour assurer « l’élément de soi ». La présence de la voix de femmes dans la littérature m’a encouragee à mener cette communication sur l’idée de la femme, conçue telle qu’elle est chez la traductrice dans la traduction de Le Deuxième Sexe de Simone de Beauvoir. Ȧ travers cette communication, nous analysons, la traduction hindi faite par Prabha Khetan. Deuxièmement, nous analysons les défis auxquels fait face la traductrice, et les stratégies qu’elle emploie pour rendre la traduction, plus particulièrement la traduction ethnocentrique dudit livre. Ensuite, nous nous focalisons sur Stree Upekshita, la traduction hindi de Le Deuxième Sexe, pour voir comment et pourquoi l’approche éthnocentrique convient à la traduction.
