This research paper explores the critical role of community participation in the success of government schemes aimed at enhancing drinking water and sanitation facilities in Rajasthan, a state known for its arid conditions and water scarcity challenges. The study focuses on how active community involvement can influence the planning, implementation, and sustainability of these initiatives. By employing a mixed-method approach, the research integrates quantitative data analysis with qualitative insights derived from field studies conducted across various rural and urban regions of Rajasthan. The paper examines the effectiveness of key government programs, such as the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), in addressing the water and sanitation needs of the population. It highlights the successes achieved through community-driven efforts, such as increased access to clean water and improved sanitation facilities. However, the study also identifies significant challenges, including gaps in public awareness, infrastructural deficiencies, and issues related to the long-term sustainability of these programs.
