Abstract: The advent of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies has caused a paradigm change in the conventional financial systems. The effects of these innovations on traditional financial institutions and regulatory frameworks are examined in this research. Cryptocurrencies, like Ethereum and Bitcoin, allow peer-to-peer transactions without middlemen and provide a safe, decentralised alternative to existing financial systems. The foundation of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, makes record-keeping transparent and unchangeable, which lessens the need for trust in financial transactions. The integration of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology into current financial infrastructures presents both benefits and challenges, including issues with security, regulation, and financial stability. These issues are covered in this abstract. In addition, it looks at ways that established financial institutions and newly formed cryptocurrency platforms could work together to minimise risks and maximise the advantages of this game- changing technology. In the end, this study seeks to shed light on how finance is changing in the digital era and to encourage more investigation into the relationship between cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and established financial systems. This abstract explores the possible advantages and disadvantages of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, including their effects on financial markets, difficulties with regulations, and environmental issues arising from energy-intensive mining operations.
Keywords: Blockchain, online payments, cryptocurrency, and security.
