In the past ten years, the use of fast disintegrating tablets (FDTs) has increased, and the pharmaceutical industry has seen a rapid expansion in this field. Fast disintegrating tablets (FDTs) are solid dosage forms that, when placed on the tongue, instantly disintegrate or dissolve, releasing the medicine within a few seconds without the use of water. To improve patient compliance, fast disintegrating tablets (FDTs) are designed to be easy to make and administer, free of adverse effects, with quick release and enhanced bioavailability. Fast dissolving pills have been developed for paediatric, geriatric, and bedridden patients, as well as active individuals who are on the go and may not have access to water. Such compositions provide the possibility of extending product life in many elderly people.
