Labour companionship refers to support provided to a women during labour and childbirth .It may be provided by a partner, family member, friends or healthcare professional. Objectives: To assess the opinion and attitude regarding birth companionship among women in selected villages of Ambala & To find out the association of level of attitude with their selected sample characteristics. Method: The research approach adopted for the study was Non-Experimental research approach. The research design adopted for the study was Descriptive survey Design. The sample comprised of 290 married women which are selected by Purposive sampling technique from selected villages. The tools developed and used for data collection were structured opinion questionnaire and Likert scale. Tool was prepared by focusing on opinion and attitude respectively. The validity was ensured in consolidation guide and expert, the reliability of structured opinion questionnaire was established by Test-retest reliability. After obtaining formal permission from concern authority. Data was collected in month of March 2020.Result: The findings of the study have shown that 91.4% of women have positive attitude regarding birth companionship. Majority of women have positive opinion regarding birth companionship. Conclusion: Majority of women have positive opinion regarding birth companionship. Majority of women (91.4%) have highly favourable attitude regarding birth companionship, (08.6%) least had moderate favourable and no one had unfavourable. It was found that there was significant association of attitude score with sample characteristics such as age, occupation, income, dietary pattern, live children and information regarding birth companionship.
