Algae are one of the sources for the phytochemicals, which are in turn act as reducing and capping agents for the synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs). This article reports ecofriendly green synthesis of Ag-Au bimetallic NPs by using marine algae (Cladophora) as reducing and capping agent. The characterization such as size, morphology and composition of Ag-Au bimetallic NPs were confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) techniques. The synthesized Ag-Au bimetallic NPs was used for the photocatalytic degradation of azo dye Crystal Violet. The degradation of the dye was studied with UV-Visible spectral analysis and the bimetallic NPs have shown excellent photocatalytic performance.
